Terms of Service for Summate — AI Page Summarizer

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using the Summate Chrome Extension ("Summate" or "the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Summate is a browser extension that generates AI-powered summaries of web pages. Users configure their own API provider (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) or use their own API key. The extension also offers paid subscription plans for enhanced features.

3. Free vs Paid Tiers

3.1 Free Tier: Limited to 10 summaries per day. No payment required.
3.2 Paid Subscriptions: Pro ($4.99/month) and Unlimited ($8.99/month) plans are available. Payment is processed by Creem (our merchant of record). Subscription fees are charged monthly and are non-refundable except as required by applicable law.
3.3 License Keys: After purchase, you will receive a license key via email. Enter this key in the extension's Settings to activate your paid tier.

4. User Responsibilities

4.1 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your license key.
4.2 You must not use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
4.3 You must not reverse-engineer, modify, or distribute the extension without authorization.

5. API Usage

Summate sends page content to the API provider you configure. We are not responsible for the data handling practices of third-party API providers. Review their terms and privacy policies separately.

6. Cancellation and Refunds

6.1 You may cancel your subscription at any time through Creem.
6.2 Upon cancellation, your paid features will remain active until the end of the current billing period.
6.3 Refund requests are handled by Creem in accordance with their refund policy.

7. Limitation of Liability

Summate is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. The developers shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the Service.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
